Rockland Bird Feeding & Sightseeing Excursion Falmouth
Travel into the hills of Anchovy to Rocklands which overlook Montego Bay. The former home of Lisa Salmon who had moved to Rocklands in 1954 and with her strong love of nature began to feed the local birds earning her the name of ‘The Bird Lady’. After frequent visiting of the various birds she decided to open her sanctuary to the public eight years later.
Since then Rocklands has hosted thousands of people from all over the world, both local and foreigners, as they wait patiently in a rustic setting to feed the great variety of birds. Everyone waits to see the national bird of Jamaica the beautiful emerald green streamer tail known as the Humming bird.
Explore the Rocklands Bird Sanctuary and visit Montego Bay’s sightseeing highlights during this 5-hour tour. See the Jamaican Oriole, the White Winged Dove and Jamaica’s national bird, the Doctor Bird, at the sanctuary, where they will perch on your finger and wait for you to feed them nectar from a bottle. In downtown Montego Bay, visit Sam Sharp Square, St James Parish Church and Richmond Hill Great House; then stop by one of the local ‘hip strips’ for some shopping.
