Rose Hall Great House

The greatest of Jamaican great houses, the Rose Hall Great House has a story with all the elements of an engaging novel. Built in 1770 by John Palmer and his wife, it eventually became the residence of their grandnephew, John Rose Palmer. In 1820, Palmer married Annee, a beautiful but feisty English girl. As you explore the house on your tour, listen as your guide tells you more about its construction, history and traditional belief.

Greeted by your driver/tour guide, your tour will depart for Rose Hall Great House often described as “The White Witch Of Rose Hall Great House”. This experience will take you back in time as you stroll through this 1700s home of the White Witch guided by candlelight and a tour guide. The story comes alive as it is acted out on how the White Witch Annie Palmer turned a magnificent plantation into the wickedest plantation house ever. Countless slaves fell prey to her torture, and all three of her husbands met their death at her hands. While these stories are just that, the house itself is a testament to the wealth, pomp and grandeur of plantation-era Jamaica. The tour guide are adept at their jobs and give you a real and captivating tale while describing Jamaica during the early era. Although the story does give you the creeps, be assured that you are not in danger. Be sure to bring your camera, even though there are a few restricted area that prohibit photography. All ages are welcome, however, the night tour may be a little scary for young children.
